National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP COMP-3)
National Agriculture Innovation Project (NAIP),component-3 is a project where IMPACT-NE has been asociating as a Partner to Asam Agricultural University,Jorhat,.2011-12 is the consecutive 4th year of the same, concentrated in Agricultural Research and Innovation, which is being supported by Indian Council of Agricultural Research,(ICAR) New Delhi.The title of the project is Livelihood Promotion Through Integrated Farming System in Assam. The project was sanctioned to implement in three disadvantageous districts namely Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar, and Karbi-Anglong of Assam. IMPACT-N.E. is implementing and specially working in Lakhimpur district as a consortium partner of Assam Agriculture University. IMPACT-N.E. has been running the project in a very smooth way stressing on all the sub-components of the same. In the project Lakhimpur and Dhakuakhana, the two clusters are included with an inclusion of total 1185 nos farm families for the total project period of 4 years. In the year 2011- 12 total 450 beneficiaries were covered inclusion of total 10 nos SHGs in both the clusters for their livelihoop promotion through integrated farming system.

1.1 Learning & Capacity Building
In the year 2011-12, for learning and capacity building of the newly included farmers from the villages covered in its extended form . In learning and Capacity building component total 3 phases of trainings were organized to the beneficiaries including total 80 nos of farmers in each cluster for each phase of training, out of which 40 nos from Rice-Fish-Vegetable and other 40 nos from Livestock-Fish-Vegetable component were covered. Each training were conducted for two days for one group of 40 farmers. In the three phases of trainings total 480 nos of farmers were covered in both the clusters of the district. Resource person from Assam Agricultural University (AAU) , Krishi Vigan Kendra (KVK), Lakhimpur along with representatives of IMPACT-N.E. came for the training programme and imparted the training.

1.2 Awareness Workshop
In the year 2011-12, for farmers awareness generation, one workshop was organized in each cluster for the newly introducedc farmers into the project as beneficiaries alon with other non beneficiary farmers from the villages adjoined to the clusters.which were organized in the month of May/2011,Total 175 nos new farmers have aslready identified newly in each clusters for whom the awareness programmes were meant for.
1.3 Farmers- Scientist Interaction Programme
For sharing of experience and finding out probable solutions Farmers -Scientists interaction is a regular activity undr the project for every year.To assess the success and difficulties faced by the farmers, likewise the preceeding years during the year 2011-12,one farmers-scientists interaction programme was conducted in Dhakuakhana Cluster and another one in Lakhimpur cluster. In the programme, Sr. scientists both from AAU and KVK, Lakhimpur, and Executive Director of IMPACT-N.E and other successful farmers of the preceeding years have also shared their views to make it more meaningful.
1.4 Provision of Input Distribution
Likewise the preceeding years of the project in the year 2011-12 input distribution in time was stressed very much as a major activity under the project to carry out far activities by the selected farmers. In the year 2011-12 a, need based inputs were distributed among the selected selected farmers in due course of time. All the selected farmers were benefited from the project by receiving necessary inputs to carry out integrated farming system for promoting their livelihoods. The deliverable for the farmers were-
arrow_sbconsultancy Farmers under Livestock-fish-vegetable component were provided according to the choice of the farmers, either 3nos piglets, pig stys, feeds, medicines etc or 50nos poultry, poultry sty, feeds, medicines etc. In addition to that 400 fingerlings, limefeeds, vegetable seedlings and required fertilizers were distributed.
arrow_sbconsultancy Farmers under Rice-fish- vegetable component were provide with paddy seeds for 2 bigha lands, fertilizers, fingerlings, fish feed along with vegetable seedlings, fertilizers etc.

1.5 Monitoring of SHGs

1.6 Monitoring of Provided Infrastructures
In the year 2011-12 no more infrastructures were developed within the project clusters but have monitoring the infrastructures already provided to the farmers either indivially or in SHG form. In monitoring it was found that the infrastructures provided were utilized purposefully and mainained properly by the beneficiaries and icreasing their income level out of the provided infrastructures under the project. These were -

arrow_sbconsultancy Vegetable nursery with boundary fencing and sprinkler irrigation set in one in each cluster for 2nos of SHGs 4. Developed one community fishery of 2 hactors of land area in each cluster and provided to manage to one SHG in each cluster.
1.7 Incentive for Progressive Vegetable Farmers
In the year 2011-12 as incentives seedling of pineapple, and lemon along with mustard seeds were provided to the succeesful farmers. Under this intervention total 20 nos farmers were covered in both the clusters for their additional income., Moreover they were provided with total 5 varities of vegetable seedlings likewise the preceeding years. So, the best two farmers in each vegetable variety were selected in each cluster for the incentive but no vermicompost units were provided like the preceeding year.
